Listening to Ben Frost's second full length album conjures feelings of uneasiness fit for a psychological thriller. If I'm being honest, it was the perfect fit for my ears when I was sitting in the hell that was work yesterday and it fell into my lap.
What I had needed, and what "By The Throat" ended up giving me, was an instrumental journey through the woods in the middle of the night where you are the boogie man (or woman in my case) and people better not get in your way.
Frost has some heavy hitters lending their talents to this eerily magnificent LP. "Produced in Iceland by Frost and Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Coco Rosie, Bonnie “Prince” Billy), the album also features performances by Amiina, The Arcade Fire’s Jeremy Gara, Swedish metal outfit Crowpath and composer Nico Muhly." With a lineup like that, it's no wonder this album is filled with darkness, dread and passion.
Some standout tracks which you'll be able to enjoy after October 19th (right before Halloween!) are "Peter Venkman Pt.1", "O God Protect Me" and "Through The Glass Of The Roof". I can almost guarantee this is like nothing you've heard before.
