The two bands featured today, Quitzow and Setting Sun, are currently hitting the UK with a one-two punch of their co-headlined tour.
My take on Setting Sun's tune is a fun, poppy synth-infused rock song with a dark little secret. I'm picturing the Muppets meet Labyrinth (mostly because it's the holiday season and I want to see The Muppet Christmas Carol and I need a little more Bowie in my life these days.
Take a listen for yourself and let me know what you think of Setting Sun's single - They're Calling(mp3).
Quitzow's album, "Art College", made for some highly amusing music-listening experiences this summer. She's got a very distinctive voice with a lot of intelligent things to say. Her use of strings with a heavy backbeat on What Time is It?(mp3) is unexpected but totally called for. She's not as crass as Peaches or Princess Superstar but is easy to throw into whatever category you might clump them in.
Do you like? Do you hate? Lemme know.
