There's something about Killola that puts a smile on my face. I'm not sure if it's the lyrics or the fact that their music reminds me a bit of some of my favorite girl punk groups of the past (Bikini Kill, L7, Bratmobile) mixed with the Clueless soundtrack. I know I'm not the only one who finds them infectious, their fans have gone as far as freaking tattooing themselves. No, I'm not kidding, they have inked themselves for life with either the band's logo or likeness. Sure, it's a pretty dope design but I barely like myself enough to tattoo myself with Chubby Jones (however if you want to do it to yourself, I'll put the pics on my Facebook page...I kid, kind of). Thanks to the marketing pros at Skull Candy, you can download the entire Killola album for FREE - what a nice holiday present to yourself. I suggest listening to the entire album WITH the band's commentary - because eventhough it's a giant commercial for Skull Candy, it's all pretty funny. The Bill Cosby impersonation is probably my favorite.
You can be sure the next time they're in Chicago I'll be stalking them for an interview. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with another tat.
Here's a single for those of you who would prefer to keep their email address to themselves: Killola - Cracks in the Armor
